Samuel Steven Steve Jones, 68, Army veteran who served during Vietnam – Port City Daily

Samuel Steven ‘Steve’ Jones

HAMPSTEAD — Samuel Steven “Steve” Jones, 68, passed Friday, Jan. 17, 2020, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Born Jan. 20, 1951, Steve was the youngest of four children of the late Samuel Abner and Louise Bundy Jones. Steve was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Ann Frederick.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Patti Satira Jones; daughters, Jae Lyn Jones and Caroline Zimmerman; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild; sisters, Vicki J. Cooper (Donald) and Bundy J. Henderson (Winston); brother-in-law, Robert (Bobby) Frederick; and many nieces and nephews.

Steve meant the world to Patti’s mom, Dolly Satira; Patti’s brothers and sisters; and all of his nieces and nephews.

He was employed by System One out of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he worked as an operations manager. He was also a U.S. Army veteran and served in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War.

Steve always enjoyed golfing with friends and spending time with his family. He was an avid Tampa Bay Buccaneer Football fan and always enjoyed a good oyster roast.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 21, at Anchor Baptist Church, 300 Futch Creek Road, Wilmington. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. prior to services at the church.
