Banyan Tree Resort & Residences By RIDGE Promises Elevated Luxury Living In The Bahamas

Banyan Tree Resort & Residences, unveiled by Rockwell Island Development Group, redefines luxury living in the Bahamas. Completion expected by early 2025.

Rockwell Island Development Group (RIDGE), led by its owner and developer Rafael Reyes, is thrilled to unveil Banyan Tree Bimini Resort & Residences, a distinguished haven redefining luxury living in Bimini, Bahamas. Collaborating with the renowned global hospitality brand Banyan Tree to manage the resort and private residences’ rental program, RIDGE has curated an exceptional team for this venture. Oppenheim Architecture, a celebrated architectural firm, is leading the project’s design, complemented by OFFICIAL’s marketing expertise in the United States. The development is already in progress, with the first five residences slated for completion by early 2025.

Nestled on Rockwell Island, a secluded paradise embraced by pristine beaches and azure waters, Banyan Tree Bimini Resort & Residences offers an unparalleled retreat for homeowners and guests alike. Accessible from Miami in just under 30 minutes by seaplane, private jet, helicopter, or boat, the island provides swift connectivity from major U.S. cities like New York and Texas within three hours. Covering 750 acres, RIDGE is crafting 54 bespoke waterfront residences, a 50-key luxury hotel, and the exclusive Bonito Beach Club, all tailored with bespoke services and amenities. The development’s second phase will introduce a deepwater superyacht marina, a private 18-hole golf course, and an exclusive members-only clubhouse, further enhancing the island’s allure.

“Since the onset of this project, my focus has always been to assemble a world-class team dedicated to elevating the island to new heights,” says owner and developer of RIDGE Rockwell Island Development Group, Rafael Reyes. “Being the closest Bahamian island to the US, Bimini is a hidden gem that world-class travelers will soon get to experience. Time slows down here, and life unfolds effortlessly.”

Every private residence at Banyan Tree Bimini Resort & Residences boasts a waterfront location, exquisite amenities, and five unique layouts, with pricing starting from $3.5 million. What sets this development apart is the inclusion of a private dock for each home, easy beach access, and expansive indoor/outdoor spaces perfect for relaxation and entertainment. These residences can also join a rental program managed by Banyan Tree, granting owners and guests access to the brand’s renowned five-star concierge services for seamless experiences.

Moreover, all property owners at Banyan Tree Bimini Resort & Residences automatically become members of The Sanctuary Club. This exclusive membership offers special recognition, benefits, and discounts throughout the entire Banyan Group portfolio. Members also gain entry into an exchange network, connecting them with other participating residence owners for enhanced opportunities and experiences.

“The Bahamas has always held a special allure for residents of South Florida,” said Oren Alexander, co-founder of The Alexander Team and OFFICIAL. “Our clients have been hungry for a weekend hideaway that blends refined living, a sense of adventure, and door-to-door ease, and Bimini perfectly encapsulates all. Despite the 20-minute commute from South Florida, Banyan Tree Bimini Resort & Residences feels worlds away with its pristine beaches and turquoise waters.”

RIDGE has enlisted the acclaimed Miami-based architectural firm Oppenheim Architecture, led by the award-winning architect Chad Oppenheim, to spearhead the architectural design and creative direction of the development. Joining Oppenheim is landscape architect Raymond Jungles, who will contribute his expertise to the project. Chad Oppenheim, known internationally for his ability to fuse minimalism with environmentally conscious architecture, is celebrated for seamlessly integrating natural elements into striking designs.

“Since beginning work on Banyan Tree Bimini Resort & Residences, we have held true to the philosophy that the architecture should celebrate the island’s spirit of place. Our mission has been to celebrate the essence of Bimini through design that becomes hidden in the landscape,” says Chad Oppenheim. “There is artistry in the change of sky, water and light, and we translated those qualities into timeless homes and bungalows that celebrate the island’s natural beauty.”

Apart from the branded and serviced residences, the development includes a boutique resort meticulously designed by Oppenheim Architecture and operated by Banyan Tree, a globally acclaimed provider of luxury resorts, residences, and spas in iconic locations like Thailand, Bali, Vietnam, and Riviera Maya. The hotel will feature 24 beachfront villas and 26 overwater bungalows, reminiscent of those found in renowned destinations such as the Maldives. This debut within North America marks an expansion for the esteemed Banyan Tree brand into a new market, signaling their ongoing growth beyond Asia.

“We are delighted to partner with Rockwell Island Development Group to introduce Banyan Tree to this exceptional destination, further expanding our presence in this vibrant region. From Phuket to Shanghai, Saudi Arabia to Mexico, Banyan Tree is going global as the advocate of sustainable travel,” said Eddy See, President and CEO of Banyan Group. “The Banyan Tree brand embodies intimacy, nature and local traditions, and Banyan Tree Bimini Resort & Residences reflects these values by embracing the local culture and natural environment, inviting guests to immerse themselves in this Sanctuary for the Senses.”

Renowned for their work in St. Barths and Aspen, RIDGE has partnered with Bonito to manage the exclusive beach club at Banyan Tree Bimini Resort & Residences. The Bonito Beach Club will captivate members and guests with gourmet dining curated by top chefs, an exceptional atmosphere, VIP table service, private cabanas, yacht and tender services, and a range of recreational activities. Residents who invest in Banyan Tree Bimini Resort & Residences will receive access to this private club upon finalizing their purchase.

Drawing on nearly thirty years of expertise in the Bahamas, RIDGE excels in construction, infrastructure development, and long-term destination planning. They have played a pivotal role in the establishment of Rockwell Island and its neighboring islands, including the setup of water, sewage, and power facilities in the area. Notably, RIDGE collaborated with various private entities to secure approval for the redevelopment of South Bimini International Airport in November 2023. Bimini Airport Development Partners Limited has committed to investing $80 million in two phases for this project. Phase one, commencing in 2024, will focus on airside and terminal enhancements to facilitate international commercial flights from key markets in the United States and Europe. Additionally, construction will begin on a ferry terminal to provide direct access for visitors from the airport to North Bimini.
