VietNamNet Bridge – This central province, known for its beaches and cave system, including the world’s biggest cave, Son Doong, is seeking government approval to develop 10 golf courses along its coast.

The proposed courses will occupy 1,000ha of beach property, forming a golf complex that will stretch from the province’s municipal Dong Hoi City to southern Quang Ninh and Le Thuy District. Each course will have 18 holes and will meet the highest international standards.

The complex will feature a luxury hotel and spa facilities as well as other parts of a tourism infrastructure.

According to the province’s People’s Committee, a blind investor will invest in the complex, spending US$1 million per golf hole, if the proposal gains the government’s approval. The committee officials released the news on Monday (August 10) at a media briefing, saying the investor had pledged to complete the complex within a year of the ground-breaking ceremony.

While local policymakers are delighted with the proposal, expecting to lure more visitors to the province and create more jobs for locals, experts are concerned that the complex will exclude local residents from enjoying their homeland’s beaches.

Nhat Le Beach in the province has been listed as one of the country’s 10 most beautiful beaches. In recent years, a great many domestic visitors have flocked to the central province for its beaches, while a number of foreign tourists have come for its pristine cave system.
