Continuing to raise funds to support hardworking students to overcome economic challenges, the annual golf tournament for Vietnamese children, Swing for the Kids organised by Vietnam Investment Review (VIR) and accompanied by BRG and Seabank, successfully took place at the newest 19-hole Kings Course and Mountainview Course.
Designed in 2004 by Australian firm Pacific Coast Designs (PCD), the new courses complete BRG Kings Island Golf Resort, making it the first 36-hole resort in Vietnam.
This year’s tournament attracted lots of golfers and collected total donations of VND1.6 billion ($69,600)
A Gala Dinner awarding the most successful golfers will also take place today at 6 PM.
Since its launch in 2007, the annual charity golf tournament Swing for the Kids has been welcomed each year by investors, businessman and women, and diplomats who showed great drive to support and encourage dedicated students from poor families and provided a platform for them to exchange ideas about work and life.
According to communications manager of Samsung Electronics Vietnam Tran Viet Hung, “From the very first days of joining VIR’s charity golf tournament, we at Samsung have been impressed by this well-planned and professionally arranged event. The organisers are not only professional in hosting the charity golf tournament at an increasingly larger scale each year, but also in planning trips to grant scholarships to students in outlying provinces. We have had many chances to attend such trips, witnessing moving stories. We all highly appreciate the efforts of the organisers in putting on such a meaningful golf tournament.”
Evans Mahoney, Northern Golf director of BRG Group, told VIR: “Our chairman’s heart is always with the children of Vietnam and one of her philosophies for the company is to make all of Vietnam better, and with her passion for golf and with the facility that we have, this is a perfect opportunity for us to partner with Vietnam Investment Review to host this event for the children. We are always looking for ways to support the children and maintain our relationship with VIR, and developing this event has inspired others to stage similar events in Vietnam. This is one of the oldest and most successful charity golfing events and now others are getting involved. It helps us grow through other avenues which we otherwise could not do alone.”
Another sponsor and golfer accompanying the event, Thomas Chapelle, CEO of Golf Plus 18 Academy, shared: “I learnt of VIR’s Swing for the Kids three years ago, but I couldn’t join that event because the season had already finished. Since then, I have been trying to do whatever I can to contribute to this meaningful tournament. I fully support the development of the Vietnamese golf industry and I love kids. I hope many more people will come to understand the target of this meaningful event and participate in, contributing to the fund to support more children.”

Photos and the results of the tournament will be updated by VIR.
