Ernie Els golf academy coming soon
The Els Performance Golf Academy will be established in Viet Nam with an announced capital of about VND100 billion (US$4.4 million).
The legendary golfer was in Ha Noi early this week to launch the project and work with Vietnamese partners over a strategy.
The facility will be built on the campus of the Ecopark community just a few kilometres from the city centre.
The academy is Els’ latest effort to share his success story across the globe, giving juniors and adults an opportunity to learn the game the way it should be played, adopting an individualised approach using the most up-to-date technology, diagnostic and teaching strategies.
The academy is expected to be running by the middle of next year.
Els, 46, is a South African professional golfer. The former world No 1 has collected 70 career victories including four major championships: the US Open and The Open Championship.
Thai Fight World Battle to open
The Thai Fight World Battle (Thai kickboxing) is scheduled to open in HCM City’s Military Zone 7 Gymnasium today, Oct 24.
Viet Nam will send two fighters, Vo Van Dai and Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat.
Nhat who has no rivals in the continental area in the men’s 60kg will meet French Victor Pinto. Pinto has had 90 fights, of which he won 67.
Meanwhile, Dai will face Thailand’s Insee Samui in the men’s 62kg.
Dai won the bronze medal at the Asian Beach Games and silver medal at the world event last year. His Thai rival has won 64 out of 95 professional matches.
Thai Fight World Battle is an annual sports event held worldwide since 2010 and recognised as a professional martial arts show.
Table tennis tournament begins
The National Top Teams Table Tennis Tournament will start tomorrow (Oct 25) in the central province of Khanh Hoa.
Nearly 80 athletes from 12 teams nationwide are set to compete at the event, in men’s and women’s singles and team competitions.
The nation’s top players Dinh Quang Linh, Le Tien Dat of the Military team, Nguyen Anh Tu of Ha Noi T&T and Mai Hoang My Trang of Petrosetco will take part in the event.
